HOLYHEAD TOWNSCAPE HERITAGE INITIATIVE (THI)
The Holyhead Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is a heritage regeneration programme which is part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) across the UK. Anglesey County Council has secured £1m from the HLF towards a THI in Holyhead Town Centre, and has secured matching resources of some £2m to create a funding package totalling some £3m. The matching funds include contributions from ERDF, Welsh Assembly, Anglesey County Council, and Cadw.
The Holyhead THI includes the following components:-
- Grants for historic building improvements
- Funds for urban realm heritage improvements
- Education, training, publicity and interpretation
- Project officer employment and other running costs.
The project officer started in post full-time in October 2010, and will be based with the Council's Built Environment Section in Llangefni ,but will have an outreach office in Holyhead.
