|
Update : HOT trustees decided to cease trading in May 2011 due to the financial position of the organization. Due to changes in government contracts, its main source of income ended. This has led to the loss of 14 jobs. The staff of the trust have been praised for their hard work over the last 20 years. The Ty Cyfle building remains open as the Coleg Menai adult education facility in Holyhead.
The Holyhead Opportunities Trust was created in the 1990's as a community enterprise committed to the social, economic and environmental regeneration of Holyhead and Anglesey.
The Holyhead Opportunities Trust delivered the New Deal Voluntary Sector programme on Anglesey and Gwynedd and the Environmental Task Force for Gwynedd, which allowed them to place 18 - 24 year old people and lone parents into 13 - 26 week work experience and provide training and job search.
The JOBS Project, Job Opportunities & Business Services, was a training programme which was also committed to getting people aged 18 - 59 years into sustainable employment. It provided the person with the training and work experience needed to find employment, businesses benefit from having extra staff for a small service charge.
Work Based Learning was for young people aged 16 - 18 years and adults up to 59 years. This provided basic skills and key skills for those who have not gained any qualifications and will work with them to find employment, work experience and training.
The Holyhead Opportunities Trust also offered a service to businesses and community organisations e.g. Photocopying, business cards, posters etc and they also hired out function rooms.
