Community Partnerships

Thanks to the Welsh Assembly Government's 'Communities First' programme, Holyhead now has three active local community partnerships. These are all now established as not-for-profit limited companies and together employ over twenty staff working on a wide range of community regeneration activities. Four of the six Communities First designated wards on Anglesey are located in Holyhead. The County Council employs a county co-ordinator for Communities First, based at Holyhead Town Hall (Post currently vacant - Interim Co-ordinator is Rita Lyon - tel. 01407 764186).

Plas Cybi Partnership Ltd

Plas Cybi Partnership has been formed by the merger of the previous Holyhead Town Ward and Maeshyfryd Ward Partnerships.

This partnership covers the Holyhead Town and Maeshyfryd wards. They are based at Millbank Centre and at Bryn Annex in Williams Street (a building which they have purchased and refurbished). Examples of the many projects by Plas Cybi include the St Mary's pre/after school club, a Welcome Host training initiative, the town centre flower beds/hanging baskets scheme, an environmental audit/strategy and a community I.T. suite.

Morlo are based at the Gwelfor Community Centre in Morawelon. Examples of the many projects by Morlo include a Community Creche, the new Community Centre being created in the former Tile Centre on London Road and the Community Apprenticeship scheme.
