Private Sector
       

Private sector interest and involvement in the regeneration of Holyhead is essential if the strategy is to succeed. The main private sector partners in the regeneration of the town are summarized below :-

Holyhead & District Chamber of Commerce

The need for a local business organization was identified at the outset of Holyhead Forward, and a local business group was set up as a not-for-profit limited company. It has recently been relaunched as part of the group below.

Holyhead Town Centre Business Group

A new group has been formed to represent the interests of small businesses in the town centre. Contact : Sue Williams, Gateway Restaurant, Stanley Street, Tel. 01407 763727

Business on Anglesey (BOA)

This organization was also recently established to represent business interests across the county. They have a number of members from the Holyhead area and have received a presentation on Holyhead regeneration activities.

Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)

This is a large UK-wide organization for small businesses which has a number of members from the Holyhead area. The FSB organiser for Anglesey is involved in some Holyhead regeneration activities.

Stena Ports Ltd & Stena Line Ltd

Stena are a major Anglesey employer and property portfolio holders based in Holyhead, and are part of an international business group based in Sweden. They are the Holyhead Port Authority as well as being a ferry operator.

Stena have recently relocated several of their UK-wide services to Holyhead. These include: a new 50-person call-centre dealing with UK/Ireland ferry bookings, Stena UK fleet management staff, and Stena IT services for UK ports and ships.

Stena have been/are involved in assisting a number of regeneration projects in the town, including sponsorship of regeneration staff costs, Holyhead tourism marketing schemes and chamber activities. Anglesey Aluminium Metal Ltd

Anglesey Aluminium are Holyhead's main industrial employer. They have an active community engagement programme, and often assist small local projects and groups. The company participate in the Holyhead Forward Board meetings. They were partners in the Socio-Economic Impact Study for the Wylfa closure. The Executive Summary can be downloaded below.

Holyhead Boatyard

The company have been involved in sponsoring the cost of local regeneration staff and in providing senior staff time to assist in the regeneration of the town, and in running the Chamber of Commerce. www.holyhead.co.uk
